The event became a platform for industry professionals to discuss further strengthening China-UK automotive cooperation. Researchers, market experts, and government representatives from both countries discussed current opportunities for collaboration in the automotive sector and the future direction of development. “After the European Cup this year, BYD’s market influence in Europe has significantly increased, and consumer acceptance has also risen noticeably. This is a critical moment for BYD to further enhance its brand influence,” said Ge Hongde, BYD’s National Manager for the UK and Ireland, in an interview with reporters. By strengthening cooperation, both sides can leverage their respective advantages to jointly face challenges and drive the upgrading and development of the automotive industry. covid-19-advice-from-prof-wang COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention Strategy-Professor Wang Xin On March 29, 2020, the UK Society of Chinese Automotive Engineers (UKCSAE) invited Professor Wang Xin from the University of Manchester to provide online science knowledge and answer questions about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Take precautions, isolate scientifically, make rational judgments, and don’t panic. Professor Wang Xin is the director of the Department of Cardiology at the School of Biomedical Health, University of Manchester, UK, executive editor of the British Journal of Pharmacology, and an internationally renowned cardiovascular disease research expert. Pathology and vaccines The existing public domain knowledge about the new coronavirus will not be repeated here. The following information will be helpful for personal risk control and behavioral judgment: COVID-19 is a virus with an envelope structure. Its basic structure includes spike-like S protein and positive-phase single-stranded RNA. The main mechanism of virus inactivation in vitro is to break the envelope and expose the RNA chain to the air, thereby destroying it and becoming ineffective (for example, alcohol). The first "Online Technical Forum" of the Society of Chinese Automotive Engineers in the UK in 2024 was successfully held The "Online Technology Forum" of the Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers was successfully held on May 18. This event is the first online technology forum held in 2024. The themes of this forum cover fuel cell technology, autonomous driving and connected car technology. Professor Xu Hongming, chairman of the association, delivered an enthusiastic opening speech. Four special guests gave academic reports and discussions in turn, and Dr. Li Ji from the University of Birmingham hosted the event. Dr. Shangfeng Du from the University of Birmingham shared with everyone the electrochemical engineering innovations of high-performance fuel cell electrodes. Dr. Du graduated from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is currently an associate professor at the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. His research interests include materials, components and equipment for low-temperature fuel cells and water electrolyzers. Dr. Duan Yu from Changan Automobile shared with everyone the overview of Changan Automobile's fuel cell technology development. Dr. Duan graduated from the University of Nottingham in the UK and is currently a power system control software and fuel cell expert at Changan UK's Birmingham R&D Center. His research direction is advanced fuel cell stack online water management technology using DC/DC converters. Dr. Wei Chongfeng from Queen's University shared the latest research progress in Europe and Queen's University on intelligent driving under social interaction awareness. Dr. Wei graduated from the University of Birmingham in the UK and is currently a lecturer at Queen's University Belfast. His research focuses on human-source connectivity and autonomous vehicles, as well as the dynamics and control of intelligent mechanical systems. Dr. Song Xiulan from Zhejiang University of Technology shared her research work on safety control of connected vehicles in complex communication environments. Dr. Song graduated from Zhejiang University of Technology and is currently an associate professor at the School of Information Engineering of Zhejiang University of Technology. Since 2023, she has been a visiting scholar at the University of Birmingham in the UK, with her main research directions being multimedia wireless communications and intelligence. After the report, the guests and online audiences had a wonderful discussion on related topics. Professor Xu Hongming, Chairman of the Association, gave a closing speech.
